Top 5 Ways to Get Out of Debt

by Brooke 3. May 2010 19:35

If you are suffering from debt, then it is time to reverse the payment plans you have and the way that you are approaching your situation.  You can easily become debt free in a short period of time, even if you don’t have the financial means to completely get out of debt.  Understanding the different alternatives to move you into financial freedom is the first step to enjoying the option of being debt free.  Following are the top five ways to get out of debt.

  1.  Debt management plans.  If you are not behind on your bills, then considering debt management plans may work efficiently.  These are designed to show you how much debt you owe as well as how much you make per month.  From this point, you can find out how much you can pay of your debt so that it becomes clear at a faster rate.
  2. Debt consolidation.  Another alternative that is popular for those that aren’t behind in debt but can’t manage the amount of monthly payments is debt consolidation.  Doing this will allow you to move out of debt quickly by consolidating your loans into one monthly payment.  The loan you get will instantly reduce payments because of fees and a consolidated interest rate.
  3. Debt settlement.  A popular alternative for those that don’t have the financial means to pay off their debt is a settlement plan.  This will help you to get out of debt by providing you with a negotiation that allows you to pay 60% of your bill in one or two installments, then to be clear of what you owe.
  4. Debt relief.  If your financial situation is more in depth, then you may want to look into alternative programs.  Debt relief assistance is available through many credit companies and can help you to pay a smaller amount of your bills or to be relieved of the total amount that you owe.  Doing this can provide you with a new alternative to get out of debt, even without the financial means.
  5. Extra programs.  The current economic situation has led many to find extra programs from the government and organizations that can help them.  There are several newer alternatives that are available through credit companies or outside of the main area where you owe money to.  Understanding what is available can provide you with a simple alternative to paying off debts.
Whether you want to change your monthly payments, get out of debt quickly or don’t have the financial means to pay, is the ability to get debt assistance through several means.  By finding a program that works effectively, you will be able to get out of debt without the problems that often occur for those that are working their way into financial freedom.
